The superposition of the bassoon melody in the treble and the ostinato produced by the violas and the harp in harmonics is presented on two staves. Very calm in character, the main melody, with its oboe response, is nevertheless chromatic, evoking the slow and captivating dance of the Bird. Tonality close to B flat minor. The central part consists of the same melodic line at the octave for the violins and violas in the respective keys. The very particular instrumental colors deserve attentive listening to this short orchestral piece that Stravinsky, as usual, noted with extreme care (nuances, indications of character, instrumental details). automatic translation
