MUSET C. : Sire comte j'ai vièlé

2 voices

Colin Muset is a minstrel (13th century). At that time, secular song was monodic; however, the texts and the iconography tell us that the poet-musicians often accompanied themselves with a fiddle or a percussion. The version proposed here is established according to the most famous melody of Muset. The text is modernized to ensure good comprehension. Two sentences are "split" according to the principle of descant, already practiced at the time. Possibility to sing in pairs or in a choir, equal voices or mixed voices. To embellish the song, we will find a rhythmic suggestion to be performed freely on the tambourine and a concluding spoken phrase, in langue d'oïl.
