Excerpted from The Magic Flute, this duet is presented on two staves, treble clef and bass clef, with a short introduction and a conclusion in orchestral reduction. The eighth note anacrusis rhythm has a few sixteenth note cells, usual in ternary measure. The duet begins with the high voice which presents the first member of the phrase that the low voice will repeat; then the two voices unite in a simple harmony containing an elegant broken cadence.
