FAURE G. : Les berceaux

4 mixed voices and piano (or harp)

The text by Sully Prudhomme on which Gabriel Fauré composed this melody is a poetic analogy between "les berceaux que la main des femmes balance" and "les grands vaisseaux que la houle incline en silence": regular accompaniment of the piano in a flexible ternary rhythm; melody expressing great emotion whose harmony is revealed by the transcription in 4 voices, very exactly faithful to that of Fauré.
The transcription gave rise to a rigorously homophonic writing; also, l'Oiseau d'Or exceptionally offers separate parts for each of the four voices, which will make it easier for the choristers to read. Nevertheless, the score can be used by whoever wishes.(automatic translation)

Download. Choir : 4 pages (one page for each part), 37 bars, lyrics in French / Score : 4 pages / Piano : 3 pages.
