Biographie de l'auteur
The cellist Jacques WIEDERKER, born in 1927, was one of the outstanding interpreters of contemporary music. With K. Simonovitch (Ensemble Instrumental de Musique Contemporaine de Paris), M. Constant (Ars Nova), and J-L. Petit (Atelier de Ville d'Avray), he has performed most cello works of our time, very often receiving advice directly from the composers themselves. In return, he had often shared his discoveries with them, the fruits of a constant exploration of the musical and technical possibilities of this instrument and of a broad experience acquired in the course of his long career. He has given world or Paris premieres of the works of leading french and foreign composers such as G. Ligeti, I. Xenakis, M. Philippot, I. Yun, C. Ballif, M. Ishii, I. Wyschnegradsky... His sense of curiosity extends to all that makes up today's music and will make up tomorrow's music, and he unceasingly communicates his convictions and his enthusiasm for the vast contemporary repertory which he has diffused with unaffected passion for over fivty years.
