CHRISTMAS SONG : Magister venerunt

2 mixed voices (or 3)

According to a medieval anonymous person (12th century), the words are those of the 3rd verse of the Christmas carol "Personent Hodie" which has been the subject of numerous arrangements and harmonizations. "The Magi came to offer gifts, seeking the little one following the star, to adore him and bring gold and myrrh". The melody is superimposed on long values on the syllables of four words "Magister venerunt ipsum adorando" in the spirit of an organum. As an option, a third voice is possible, at the upper fifth of the bass.
